“New Labour” That is what New Zealand gangs are calling the government.
The gangs have found the government change an opportunity to grow and have quickly latched on to it. They have created new divisions and set up a crime scheme to keep the adult gang members out of prison.
These gangs are among those responsible for the large crime spree spreading across New Zealand, but the members themselves cannot be held accountable for these crimes as they are not actually committing the crime by their own hand, so to speak.
They are recruiting the youth of our country to carry out the crimes, and why wouldn’t they, as the Youth Justice system is not holding them to account, for fear of damaging their future!
The youth are being recruited by the gangs to commit the burglaries in people’s homes, shops and cars. They then give the items to the gang and in return, get a commission and protection from the gang. It is easy money with very little risk for either the youth and the gang!
To many young people this seems like an amazing opportunity as if they get caught no harm is done as there will be no sentence or conviction entered against them because burglary is not considered a serious crime in the Youth court. Nor will they be put through the court system, they will instead be subject to an‘alternative action’ meaning they will be given a verbal warning or diversion.
And to those in the gangs this is so easy for them as they are making money without doing anything and there is no come back on them. A win win situation for both the youth and the gang!!
What this government have done is they have effectively set up a playground for gangs and youth to commit crime. They are now causing the very problem they say they are trying to prevent.
So I can see how the gangs have used the change of government as an opportunity to grow the brand. Why wouldn’t you when there is no TRUE accountability or consequences for their actions?
It is the REALvictims that suffer the consequences of those actions and it is the victims that have to live with them!
