It is with much sadness and respect that the Sensible Sentencing Trust acknowledges the passing of Patricia Perkins in Dunedin on Monday.
Mrs Perkins has been a campaigner for changes to Mental Health Legislation and services for well over 3 decades and has worked tirelessly to this end.
“Patricia has dedicated her life in the support of patients and families who have suffered because of deficiencies in the Mental Health system” says Graeme Moyle, Sensible Sentencing Trust Spokesman on Mental Health issues.
“Patricia had personal experience of these issues and made it her life’s work to educate and advocate on behalf of affected families and to challenge those in a position to make change”.
“Pat was a force to be reckoned with and those who crossed her path would not forget the experience. She was an inspiration to all those who knew her” says Mr Moyle.
The Sensible Sentencing Trust offers its condolences to the Perkins family.
