Jimmy Saville and Rolf Harris have become synonymous with sexual abuse of woman and children, but is New Zealand also guilty of harbouring and protecting child abusers?
The Sensible Sentencing Trust believes that is precisely the case and is about to launch a hard hitting campaign designed to uncover New Zealand’s dirty dark secret.
‘Protect that Child’ is the name of the project and is an array of proposals the high profile victims’ rights lobby group is promoting with all political parties this Election.
Trust Spokesman Garth McVicar said the SST had been meeting with various politicians over preceding months to promote its proposals and was very confident many would become reality.
“Most politicians are aware that many of our earlier ideas are now paying dividends and they want to ensure they don’t miss the action this time around.”
“A large part of our focus this election is on proposals to protect and prevent child abuse and to ensure those responsible for committing such a despicable crime are held to account.”
“Public protection – particularly child protection – will again be a vote winner this election and all of our proposals are designed to ensure that momentum is maintained.”
